As a young child I can remember
riding by Dell Tera Farm in Inman SC. I was absolutely
amazed by the "ponies" ... my mistake. I had no idea
that a miniature horse even existed. Now looking back I
only wish that I would have stopped to speak with Mr.
Williams. Being such a pioneer in the miniature horse
business, I bet I could have gained much knowledge. Oh,
the stories that I am sure that I missed out on. If only
I could turn back time I would have realized my true
passion before the age of 33. "My Passion" I never
understood what that meant until a 30" Palomino
stallion came into my life. His beautiful golden coat
and white mane and tail won me over instantly. And, then
when my mare foaled her first filly. Good Grief! I was
hooked.
My Husband, Mike, and I enjoy the
miniature horses so much. But, it is truly a family
affair. My Mom and Dad have backed my farm in every
aspect. My Dad and I have slowly but surely acquired the
mares and stallion that will be the foundation to our
contribution to the miniature horse community. We have
researched and located (with luck on our side) some
amazing miniature horses. We look forward to enjoying
and having much success in every aspect of the miniature
community.
Our mission at SSM is to first and
foremost provide a safe and enjoyable environment for
our horses. Whether someone is searching for the next
grand champion or a great companion we have it. Our
horses have daily interaction with humans. My favorite
part of the day is anytime that I am with my horses. We
have learned that the most important skill that a
miniature can acquire is to trust humans. This makes our
job of teaching skills from socialization to showing
much easier. We strive to breed small, correct, quality
miniature horses. We hope to achieve our goals, enjoy
our horses, make new friends, and ENJOY ALL OF IT
EVERYDAY! OH...and win a few championships!
Our bloodlines include Dell
Tera(funny how life goes full circle huh), Van Huttenest,
Jefferson Hall, TimberRidge, Freedom Hill Farms, and
Sids Rebel just to name a few. Our stallion is a direct
grandson of Gold Melody Boy. He stepped up from junior
stallion to our herd sire this year. We can't wait to
see his foals.
Sterling Star Miniature Farm has
been a long time in the making. We have visited several
farms and have been given unbelievable opportunities of
purchasing some spectacular horses. We have also gained
some priceless information and advice. We look forward
to meeting and making more great friends throughout the
miniature horse community. We would love to hear from
anyone interested in our family farm or our horses.
If you are ever in the Midlands of
South Carolina please stop in for a visit. Our barn is
